Saturdays, September 20 ~ October 25 2:00 ~ 5:00 PM (Englsih Only)

Geshe Tenzin Sherap
The basic philosophicalperspective is that afflictive emotions, such as desire, hatred, jealousy, etc. that bind beings in a round of uncontrolled birth, aging, sickness and death, are founded on the misperception of the nature of persons and phenomena. Since it is no easy matter
to penetrate the thick veil of misconceptions withinour consciousness, Buddhist philosophy includes the study of not only the best
and final system of thought, but also the supposedly “lower” systems. This provides a gradual way to approach extremely subtle topics and develops the capacity to investigate appearances so as to penetrate their reality, which leads to liberation and the ability to help a vast number of beings. In this first class of the tenets series, Geshe-la will focus on overviews of all schools of tenets to prepare students for the details
introduction of each tenet in the subsequent classes.
Essence of Refined Gold (Lam Rim Sershoonma)
Sundays, September 21 ~ October 26 9:30~11:30 AM (English and Chinese Translation)

Geshe Jangyang Chozin Rinpoche
The Third Dalai Lama's "Essence of Refined Gold" is a commentary on Lama Tsongkapa's "Songs of Experience" which lays out the stages of the path to enlightenment by ways of practices and experiences. The original source of Lama Tsongkapa's "The Stages of the Path to Enlightenment" (Lam Rim) is
Prajnaparamita Sutra which contains the highest teachings of the Buddha. Another source of this teaching is from Maitreya's "Ornamentof Clear Realization". Lam Rim is by essence the oral transmission of the Ornament of Clear Realization. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has made the following comment: Lam
Rim is the
most excellent teaching. It combines all the Buddha's instructions in one, which includes the Mahayana and the Vajrayana paths. Because it contains both the generation and completion stage practices, it is suitable for the practitioners of the beginning scope and the highest scope. It is like an ocean of dharma treasure that will benefit us not just one life, but in all future lives until one gains
full liberation and reaches complete enlightenment.
